Resolutions need not be made only at the beginning of the new year. We can resolve to change our actions and attitudes anytime we choose or feel the conviction to do so. Resolving to live a healthier lifestyle is a great choice and a great place to begin. But, it is more than just eating healthier and getting active. A healthy lifestyle is a change of attitude about yourself. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” This body we live in is not ours. We think it is, but it really belongs to God. Just like everything else in the universe, God own it. But, He has given us a few things to take care of. We are merely stewards of His great blessings.
A healthy lifestyle does not have to be extreme. In fact, I believe anything to extreme is dangerous and out of God’s will. To live healthy, you don’t have to become a vegan or even a vegetarian. A healthy lifestyle is about making the right choices in the right balance.
This year, choose to live healthy not because it is the “in” thing to do, but because it is right. It is right for you, for your health and for honoring God. Honor God this year with a new outlook on health.
